So far as you are able do not reckon upon the sorrow of the world
Until misery arrives do not burden your heart with anxiety
Drink pleasant wine and admit that from these five abodes,
Even though you have great hoards, you carry naught away

P 231

By the cark of the world, in so far as thou mayest, set no store;
The canker of Past and Future lodge not in thy heart's core;
In this fortnight's house of Life, sweet wine still quaff and pour;
Live to thyself, not the world, though thou have wealth galore.

Th 677

Fret not o'er worldly cares while you 've the power
Nor*brood upon the past or coming hour;
Drink sweet wine in this halting place and pour;
Live to yourself! though you have treasured store.
