This cup which I see to be the business of existence
Since the world is all gratuitously given to man
God be praised, in whatever direction I look
Till my own desire I see in it.

P 574

The things of the world on what fashion soe'er I perceive,
All the folk at a venture set down here and there I perceive;
Nay, glory to God I on its case howsoever I look,
My own disappointment in all things whate'er I perceive.

Th 374

As in this world's affairs' variety
I see haphazard placed folk seem to be;
Praise be to God! for whereso'er I look.
My own chagrin as due to that, I see!
