Calcutta nr. 469 *
If henceforth two measures of wine come to thy hand
Drink thou wine in every assembly & congregation
For He who made the world does not occupy himself
About mustaches like thine or a beard like mine
If henceforth two measures of wine come to thy hand,
drink thou wine in every assembly and congregation,
for He who made the world does not occupy Himself
about moustaches like thine, or a beard like mine.
If to thy band aught falleth of double-pottle wine,
Drink thou in all assemblies, profane and eke divine;
For whoso on this fashion dealeth from all concern
Of such as thy moustaches is free and beards like mine.
Whene'er there conies to hand two maunds of wine,
To drink in all assemblies ne'er decline;
For whoso does thus, sets his spirit free
Of such as thy moustache or beards like mine!
