Calcutta nr. 489
O thou who art the offspring of the four (elements) & seven (heavens)
And who argues constantly about those seven & four
Drink wine for I have told you a thousand times
There is no returning for you, when you have gone, you are gone
O thou who art the product of the four and the seven,
and who art constantly aglow owing to the seven and the four,
Drink wine, for already a thousand times I have said
to thee: there is no return for thee; when thou art gone, thou art gone.
Then to the Lip of this poor earthen Urn
I lean'd, the Secret of my Life to learn:
And Lip to Lip it murmur'd--"While you live,
"Drink!--for, once dead, you never shall return."
Drink wine! for I have told you a thousand times
There is no returning for you ; when you are gone, you are gone!
Ô toi qui es Ie résultat des quatre et des sept, je te vois bien embarrassé entre ces quatre et ces sept. Bois du vin, car, je te l'ai dit plus de quatre fois, tu ne reviendras plus; une fois parti, tu es bien parti.
O thou who the product of Four and of Seven art,
Who forever a-fret over these things eleven art,
Drink wine, for I've told thee a thousand times o'er,
Once gone, gone thou, whether to Hell or to Heaven, art.
O, thou the offspring of the Seven and Four!
I know the Four and Seven thou frettest o'er.
Drink wine ! for more than four times I 've told thee
When gone, thou 'rt gone ! Thou wilt return no more!
