Bodleian quatrain nr. 45

Cadell 1899 51d
A cup, a loved lip, cornfields' waving swell,
These are my cash, be heaven's credit thine;
Some men existence pawn for heaven and hell.
Who goes to hell? Who comes from heav'n divine?

Grolleau 1902 - 45

Heron-Allen 1898 - 45
One jar of wine and a lover's lips, on the bank of the sown field —
these have robbed me of cash, and thee of the credit.
Some are pledged to heaven or hell,
but who ever went to hell, and who ever came from heaven?

Sie raubten mir den Ruf, dir Paradieses Glück;

Talbot 1908 - 45
My empty purse on wine must cast the blame:
My kisses, love, have robbed thee of thy fame;
Some pledge themselves to faith in Heav'n or Hell:
But who hath been to Hell? From Heav'n who came?

Thompson 1906 - 666
Wine jar and lover's lips in blossomed dell
Have filched thy credit and my cash as well;
The human tribe to Hell or Heaven is pledged,
But whoe'er came from Heaven or went to Hell?

Tirtha 1941 - X.80
My loving heart, with Guide, and garden site,
This cash I count, let Heaven go to plight;
Why list the gossip of some Heaven or Hell?
Who goes to Hell, or comes from Heaven's height?
