Calcutta nr. 199

If you remain a friend forsake (your) idle talk
Compensate me for my sorrows with wine
When I die make a brick of my earth
And put me in a hole in a ruined tavern wall

Nicolas 1867 - 173

Payne 1898 - 352
My friends if ye be, a term to vain prate do ye set,
And yourselves with sheer wine my woes to abate do ye set:
When I 'm passed from this life, a brick of my clay let them make,
And the same in a hole of the wine-house's wall do ye set.

Thompson 1906 - 236
This babbling cease if ye be friends of mine.
And do ye recompense my woes with wine.
When I am clay, make ye a brick thereof
A hole within some tavern wall to line.
