Une gorgée de vin vieux est meilleure qu'un nouveau royaume.
Évite tout chemin, sauf celui qui conduit au vin... c'est mieux ainsi.
Une coupe vaut cent fois mieux que le royaume de Feridun;
La tuile qui couvre la jarre vaut mieux que la couronne de Khosroès.

Une gorgée de vin vieux vaut mieux qu'un nouvel empire. Ce qu'il y a de mieux à faire c'est dè rejeter tout ce qui n'est pas vin. Une coupe de ce nectar est cent fois préférable au royaume de Féridoun. La brique qui couvre la jarre est plus précieuse que le diadème de Kéy-Khosrov.
