Bodleian quatrain nr. 80

Cadell 1899 - 86
Spring breezes now to earth new freshness bring,
From the cloud's eyes the fountains overspring;
With Moses' blanching hand the bough is crowned,
And Jesus' breathing issues from the ground.

Grolleau 1902 - 80

Heron-Allen 1898 - 80
Now is the time when by the spring-breezes the world is adorned,
and in hope of rain it opens its eyes,
the hands of Moses appear like froth upon the bough,
the breath of Jesus comes forth from the earth.

McCarthy 1889 - 91
BEHOLD, THE TIME IS COME, WHEN
THE EARTH IS ABOUT TO CLOTHE IT-
SELF IN VERDURE, WHEN THE BLOS-
SOMS BREAKING FORTH OVER THE
BRANCHES, MAKE THEM BECOME AS
THE HAND OF MOSES, WHEN, AS IF
QUICKENED BY THE BREATH OF JESUS,
THE PLANTS SPRING FROM THE EARTH,
WHEN AT LAST THE CLOUDS OPEN
THEIR EYES TO WEEP.

Nicolas 1867 - 186

Payne 1898 - 276
'T is the time when with verdure the world THEY adorn;
The white hand of Moses' thrusts forth from the thorn;
From the face of the earth Jesus-breathed ones are born
And there open out eyes in the clouds of the morn.

Roe 1906 - 8
For now 't is Spring, when verdure clothes the land,
And flow'rs gleam white as Musa's snowy hand;
The breath of 'Isa wakes the sleeping earth,
And kindly rains refresh the thirsty sand.

Talbot 1908 - 80
The sweet Spring-breezes now the world adorn,
In hope of rain its eyes salute the morn;
The hands of Moses whiten many a spray,
The breath of Jesus moves the thrusting corn.

Thompson 1906 - 251
The Coming Grace reflects in Earth's delight,
Each leaf with Moses-hand will prove His might;
Like Jesus dust of feet enlivens souls,
And water drops reveal eternal light.

Tirtha 1941 - III.35
Partake the Word, thy vest in dust subsides,
Thy dust as cup and jar in love abides;
So seal thy mind to thoughts of Heaven or Hell,
Devotees luckless go with all their prides.

Whinfield 1883 - 201
Now is the time earth decks her greenest bowers,
And trees, like Musa's hand, grow white with flowers!
As 'twere at 'Isa's breath the plants revive,
While clouds brim o'er, like tearful eyes, with showers.
