Calcutta nr. 12

When I am dead wash me with wine
Say my funeral service with pure wine
(Perhaps) if you will, on the resurrection day you will not capture me
You must seek me in the earth of the tavern threshold.

Christensen 1927 - 76
When I am dead, wash me with wine, make over me a funeral oration of wine and cup.
If you want to find me on the day of resurrection, seek me in the dust before the door of the wine-house.

FitzGerald 1879 - 91
Ah, with the Grape my fading life provide,
And wash the Body whence the Life has died,
And lay me, shrouded in the living Leaf,
By some not unfrequented Garden-side.

Heron-Allen 1899 - 91a
When I am dead wash me with wine,
Say my funeral service with pure wine,
If thou wishest that thou shouldst see me on the resurrection-day
Thou must seek me in the earth of the tavern threshold.

Nicolas 1867 - 7

Payne 1898 - 11
When once I am dead, with wine for water bestreak ye me;
For last monition, of wine and winecup bespeak ye me:
An if ye would find me again on the Resurrection morning,
In the dust of the tavern threshold prithee seek ye me.

Thompson 1906 - 25
Wash me with grape juice when life ebbs away,
And "parting words" with wine and wine-cup say;
If me ye 'd find on Resurrection Morn,
In dust of tavern thresholds seek my clay.

whinfield 1883 - 6
When I am dead, with wine my body lave.
For obit chant a bacchanalian stave,
And, if you need me at the day of doom.
Beneath the tavern threshold seek my grave.
