FitzGerald versions
Comparative tables of FitzGerald's versions of the rubaiyat date back from the editions by Macmillan, edited by W.A. Wright in 1890 and later. The multivariorum editions edited by N.H. Dole and published in 1896 also contained comparative tables. A.J. Arberry produced a table indicating the sources in the Ouseley and Calcutta manuscripts of FitzGerald's quatrains. That table only shows the numbers that correspond with the quatrains from FitzGerald's first version of 1859. Now this table has been enlarged with the numbers of the quatrains in the second and third/fourth version.
In 1997 Christopher Decker published a critical edition of the Rubáiyát, as translated by FitzGerald. A substantial part of the book is Appendix I: "Comparative texts, with a table of the sequence of quatrains in the Rubáiyát". This chapter consists of a section "Comparative texts", followed by paragraph "Table: Sequence of Quatrains in the Rubáiyát".
